Ariann Report

Ariann lähti vauhdikkaasti alkuun, vaikka huomasin että puuvillasekoitelangalla neulominen rasittaa vähän vasenta kättä. Malli on kiva ja pelkkä ajatuskin minimaalisesta saumausurakasta antaa kummasti potkua.

Mutta maanantaina prioriteetit muuttuivat: sain neuletapaamisessa tietää mistä näiltä kulmilta saa Rosarios4 -lankoja (El Corte Inglésistä) ja suhautin sinne lounastauolla. Saaliina kolme kerää 100% Bambulankaa. Ihanaa! Pienen tutkimisen jälkeen tulin siihen tulokseen että koostumus ja paksuus on jotakuinkin samaa kuin Phildarin vastaavalla langalla, ja sillehän löytyy malleja!

I started Ariann as promised. The cotton mix yarn makes my left hand hurt a bit if I knit too much (what's that?) but I'm enjoying the pattern. Just thinking about the minimal finishing gives me an extra boost.

But on Monday I had to rearrange my priorities: in the knitting meet-up I was told where you can buy Rosarios4 yarn in Porto (in El Corte Inglés) and I went there on my lunch break. I got three skeins of Bio Bamboo (100% bamboo yarn) which is SO soft and silky. It seems to have a similar yardage and structure as Phildar's bamboo yarn. And I surely have patterns for that one.

Tässä on tulossa tytölle neuletakki. (kuvassa vasemmanpuoleinen). Lanka on ihanaa neuloa, bambupyöröllä. Metallisilla puikoilla se tuntui liian liukkaalta.

Yritän kuitenkin saada Arianniakin tehtyä.... :-)

I casted on a Phildar Cardigan for my daughter. (It's the one on the left). I love knitting with this yarn, with a Clover bamboo circular. It found it way too slippery to knit with metallic needles.

I'll try to find time to knit Ariann, too... :-)

Finally!

Hei pitkästä aikaa! Nyt on hyviä uutisia: Phildarin hupparin kaiki osat ovat valmiina. Köh - tosin vielä osittain pingotusta vailla ja saumojen ompelua... ja hupun resorin neulomista. Mutta melkein valmis kuitenkin. Hupun viime rivit olivat jo todellista tervanjuontia vaikka mallia onkin mukava neuloa. Sinnittelin sen kuitenkin valmiiksi ja tänään aion aloittaa Ariannin!

Long time no see! I have good news: all the parts of the Phildar hoodie are now finished. Well almost: there are still couple of them which have to be blocked, the seams have to be sewn, and the ribbing of the hood is knitted in the end. Anyway, it's almost done. I knitted the final rows of the hood with a real sacrifice. I like the pattern and knitting the cables, but I had had enough. Today I'll be casting on Ariann!

Pinkit herrasmiehen sukat ( Knitting Vintage Socks-kirjasta) ovat päättelyä vailla. Vähensin silmukkamäärän siis 60 silmukkaan. Sukat ovat juuri sopivat. Resorista tein vain puolet ohjeeseen verrattuna ja se näyttää ihan tyhmältä. Niinpä aion kääntää sen kuten alemmassa sukassa näkyy. Regian peruslanka oli mukavan pehmeää.

Tekaisin myös yhden "Eesti Trail Hiking"-sukan Favorite Socks-kirjasta. Kolmosen puikoilla sukka valmistuu ennätysajassa. Kirjan ohjeen kuviossa on virhe: kaaviossa pitäisi olla 16 silmukkaa 22 silmukan sijaan. Lankana on hupparin lanka ja Opalin turkoosi sukkalanka kaksinkertaisena.

The Gentleman's Socks (from Knitting Vintage Socks) are practically finished. I knitted them with only 60 stitches and they fit me perfectly. I made just half of the ribbing and I don't like how it looks. So I decided to fold it in like you can see in the other sock in the picture. The basic Regia 4-ply yarn is nice and soft.

I also started and finished one Eesti Trail Hiking Sock (from Favorite Socks). Knitting socks with 3mm needles is SO fast! I'm using some leftover 100% wool yarn from the Phildar hoodie with Opal sock yarn held double. By the way, the chart is not right in the book: there are 22 stitches instead of 16 stitches.



Kävin eilen ensimmäistä kertaa Porton neuletapaamisessa! Mukavaa oli, menen varmasti toistekin!

Yesterday I went to Porto knitting meet-up for the first time. It was really nice and will certainly turn out to be a habit. :-)

Roza's Socks

yarn: Socks That Rock Lightweight, Rose Quartz, 108 g.

comments: This is such a nice pattern! I actually first started it with a solid coloured Opal yarn, but didn't like the result at all and ripped them. With Socks that Rock Lightweight it was another story: the yarn is much more substantial and the subtle colour variation looks really nice. The only thing I changed in the pattern was making the end of the toe a little bit wider - I grafted 13+13 stitches together. These socks are really comfortable. I almost wasn't able to take them off after the photo shoot!

kommentit: Tämä oli todella mukava ohje! Yritin ensin neuloa sukat Opalin yksivärisestä langasta, mutta ne eivät näyttäneet lainkaan hyvältä ja joutuivat heti purkuun. Socks that Rock Lightweight-lanka onkin ihan erilaista, huomattavasti tukevampaa laatua. Väri vaihtelee hienosti ja sekin sopii mielestäni malliin hyvin. Ainoa muutos ohjeeseen oli se, että tein varpaan pään aavistuksen leveämpänä - silmukoin yhteen 13+13 silmukkaa. Nämä sukat ovat uskomattoman pehmeät ja mukavat jalassa. Hyvä jos raaskin niitä ottaa pois kuvauksen jälkeen.



Luulenpa että olen ehkä löytänyt ainakin vähän Socks that Rock-lankaa muistuttavan eurooppalaisen vastikeen...

Colinette Jitterbug siis löysi tiensä tännekin! Velvet-värit näyttivät niin houkuttelevilta, etten voinut vastustaa kiusausta. Kuvassa komeilee Velvet Bilberry. Tilasin kaksi vyyhtiä, mielessä ehkä polvisukat, joihin taitaa IK:n kesänumerossa tulla ohjekin.

It's Colinette Jitterbug! The new velvet colourways looked too good to be true. I got to hanks of Velvet Bilberry. Should be enough for a pair of knee high socks featured in the new IK (which I haven't received yet - so no promises).



Kun sain Rozan sukat valmiiksi, yritin sinnitellä vähän aikaa muiden projektien kanssa. Melkein kokonaisen viikoin neuloin ainoastaan Phildarin palmikkohupparia! Mutta silti se on kaukana valmistumisesta. Vielä puuttuvat huppu ja yli puolet etukappaleesta. Mutta eilen sorruin ja aloitin uudet sukat. Nancy Bushia taas. Vähensin silmukkamäärää reippaasti, teen 60 silmukalla. Mielessä ehkä walesilainen kantapää ja tähtikavennukset kärjessä, jos näyttävät sopivilta...

After finishing Roza's Socks I really tried to keep away from socks for a while, in order to finish the Phildar cabled hoodie. For a whole week I knitted and cabled and knitted and blocked but still there's no end in sight. I still have over half of the front piece and the hood to finish. So yesterday I casted on a new pair of socks. Pattern by Nancy Bush. I'm adapting the pattern for only 60 stitches and I'm thinking of a Welsh heel and maybe a Star toe...
