Jamaica Baby Blanket

It's done!



pattern: Mitered Square Blanket in by Kay Gardiner and Ann Shayne
from Mason-Dixon Knitting, instructions for No-Sew Mitered Squares here
(I made the squares a bit smaller - 56 sts instead of 72)
size: about 80cm x 80cm
yarn: Katia Jamaica (100% cotton), colour 4009, 4 x 100g skeins; about 50g. of lime green cotton yarn by Tricots Brancal.
needles: 3.5 clover bamboo circ.





Reunasta tuli vähän liian löysä, mutta en jaksanut säätää sitä.

The border came out a bit too loose, but I couldn't be bothered to arrange it.



Huomenna postiin! Vauva on kuulemma vielä mahassa, eli aikataulu piti!

I'll send it tomorrow by mail! I was informed today that the baby is still inside the belly, so the timing is perfect!

Yet another pair of knee high socks

pattern: - (basic CO80 - decr. to 60 knee highs)
yarn: Zitron Trekking (XXL) 167, 125g.
needles: 2,25mm and 2mm dpns

comments: Loved the colours and the striping of this yarn! I should have used 2mm needles all the time, as the socks are a bit loose on the leg. In a straightforward knitting like this, I speed up a bit (wroooooom!) and knit looser than normally.

kommentit: Tykästyin kovasti langan väreihin ja raidoitukseen. Sukista tuli vähän liian löysät - ensi kerralla käytän 2mm:n puikkoja koko ajan (nyt käytin niitä vain sukan kärjessä). Kun neulon tällaista aivotonta ainaoikeaa, kiihdytän vauhtia turhankin paljon ja neulon usein tavallista löysempää.

Too much randomness

Jamaica vauvapeitto alkoi karata käsistä: itseraidoittuvasta langasta neulotut tilkut kun paljastavat todellisen minänsä vasta valmiina. Katselin tänään vähän kriittisemmällä silmällä jo neulottuja tilkkuja ja päätin pistää ne ojennukseen. Purin osan ja merkkasin niille uudet paikat.

Jamaica baby blanket was getting totally out of control: knitting no-sew mitered squares from self-striping yarn really has it's downside. You never know what's coming out of the skein. So today I took a more critical look on the finished squares and decided to rip couple of them. Then I arranged the ripped yarn to a new position and labeled it, so that now I know what I'm getting.



Ajattelin tehdä reunan ainaoikeaa kontrastivärillä. Tuossa oikealla köllöttelevät väriehdokkaat. Mikä olisi paras? Itse olen taipumassa tuohon limenvihreään mutta en ole vielä tehnyt lopullista päätöstä.

I'm thinking of doing a garter stitch border in contrasting colour. (The candidates are laying on the right). Which one would you prefer? I'm thinking of the lime green right now, but I haven't made up my mind yet.

My Socktober isn't finished yet. I have some new sock FOs - hope to show them during this long weekend! Yay!

Minun sukkakuuni ei ole vielä ohi. Valmiita sukkia on (ihan sukkaparejakin). Yritän esitellä niitä pitkän viikonlopun aikana.
