Tiny little socks for a friend's son, who was born less than a week ago.
I used just 16 g. of lovely merino-cashmere sock yarn.

Joskus pienin on kauneinta.
Pikkuruiset sukat ystävän vastasyntyneelle vauvalle.
16 grammaa lankaa riitti juuri ja juuri. Hyvä, koska enempää ei olisi ollutkaan.

Gift knitting - full speed!

After feeling a bit uninspired about my knitting, I'm feeling the love again and my head is bursting with ideas. But before jumping to new and exiting projects I decided to finish all seven pairs of socks I had planned to knit for Christmas this year. I've already finished three pairs and one pair is waiting to be blocked, so they are practically flying off my needles!

The first pair is from the Knitted Socks East and West book. The yarn was chosen by my mom who then asked me to knit socks for a friend of hers. I'm aware that these will not be durable at all as the yarn is 100% wool with very little twist and that's a bit of a bummer.

Neulerintamalla on ollut havaittavissa pientä inspiraationpuutetta, joka on nyt väistymässä. Ideita olisi taas vaikka muille jakaa, mutta ensin on neulottava muutamat (tarkemmin sanottuna seitsämät) joululahjasukat pois alta. Kolme paria on jo valmiina ja neljäskin viittä vaille valmis, eli aika hyvää tahtia mennään.

Ensimmäisenä vuorossa Inro-sukat Knitted Socks East and West -kirjasta. Nämä ovat oikeastaan tilaustyö, äiti pyysi tekemään ystävälleen valitsemastaan langasta. Tuskin kestävät kovinkaan hyvin käytössä,lanka on 100% villaa. Vähän harmillista....

I also finished a pair of twin socks, adapting the Nancy Bush's Laila's sock pattern once again.

Ja jälleen kerran muuntelin Nancy Bushin Laila-sukkien ohjetta ja neulekuviota. Jostain syystä näitä on aina pakko tehdä kaksi paria.

What makes me really happy is that I managed to use really old leftover balls of yarn. Only the gray yarn was fairly recent purchase, I think I got that last year from some sale bin.

Parhainta näissä oli ikivanhojen langanjämien tuhoaminen. Ainoastaan harmaa lanka oli uudehko hankinta, jostain alelaarista sekin oli peräisin.



Now I'm knitting a manly variation of the Herringbone socks from a new book I got a while ago. I knitted a heel flap instead of the short row heel, because I was knitting with full speed and totally ignored that part of the pattern. These will be great, warm socks!

Nyt puikoilla ovat miehekkäät sukat uusimmasta sukkakirjasta. Neulon paksummasta langasta isompaa kokoa... ja vahingossa tein ihan normaalin kantapään tiimalasin sijaan, neuloin niin vauhdilla että huomasin sen vasta jälkeenpäin. Mutta mitäpä tuosta, näistä tulee ihanan lämpimät sukat!
