I No Longer Suffer From Sleep Privation

Hei pitkästä aikaa. Kolme viikkoa lomaa takana, ja olo on kuin uudestisyntyneellä. Takana on helteisiä kesäpäiviä mökillä ja todella onnistunut Pietarin-matka. Ei valittamista! Mökillä tuli neulottua aika kiitettävästi, Pietarissa ei lainkaan. Ei sitä ehtinyt! Neljässä päivässä sain aikaan 15 riviä sukkaa. Vau.

Hello again! After three weeks of my vacation I feel like born again. I´ve enjoyed hot summer days in the summer cottage and a spectacular trip to St. Petersburg. In the summer cottage I knitted a lot - in St. Petersburg not so much. There was no time for that. I managed to finish 15 rows in four days. Whee.



Mutta kuten sanottua, mökillä ehti. (Ja ehtii - menen vielä sinne takaisin).

But as I said, in the summer cottage I had lots of time (and will have some more, I´m returning there for a couple more days).



Innostuin jatkamaan Victorian Lace Today -kirjasta joskus talvella aloitettua raflaavannimistä "Large Rectangle in Leaf and Trellis pattern"-huivia. Ja hups - kolmannes keskiosasta on jo tehty!

I finally felt inspired to pick up the "Large Rectangle in Leaf and Trellis pattern" (from Victorian Lace Today) which I had started last Winter. And before I knew it, I had third of the center part done!




Pistin alulle myös Road to Golden-paidan uudesta Knitscenesta. Tästä on tulossa tällainen negatiiviversio, siis värien puolesta...

I casten on Road of Golden from the last Knitscene magazine. This is going to be a negative version of the pattern, colour-wise.



Marigold-sukatkin ovat vaiheessa, malli sopii aikoinaan Koolaidatulle oranssisävyiselle langalle mainiosti.

Mutta on ihan valmista näytettävääkin! Otin keskeneräräiset Spiral Boot-sukat mukaan ja ne ovat valmiit!

The first Marigold sock is coming alog nicely. I think the pattern suits this KoolAided orange yarn quite well.

Spiral Boot Socks

yarn: Regia Silk, 3 skeins in black
needles: 2.25mm Pony Rosewood dpns

comments: I love these. I had read that some people had problems with the instep part of the pattern, but I had none whatsoever. (I wonder If they noticed that the last row before starting the heel is just knitted and not the same as in the repeated pattern where you slip the last st. to next needle). I made the sock a bit longer than in the pattern, but I don´t remember exactly how much longer. I kept trying them on and placed the decrease rounds when I felt like it.

kommentit: Näistä tuli aivan ihanat.Olin lukenut että joillain oli ollut ongelmia mallikuvion jatkamisen kanssa kantapaan jäljeen, mutta minulla ei ollut mitään hämminkiä. (Viimeinen rivi ennen kantapäätä on vain neulottu, eikä siinä siirretä viimeistä silmukkaa seuraavalle puikolle kuten mallineuleessa). Tein sukista vähän pidemmät kuin ohjeessa, mutta en nyt muista tarkaan kuinka paljon pidemmät. Sovittelin ja jatkoin kunnes tuntui, että on kavennuskerroksen aika.

Phildar Jacket

pattern: pattern n.19 from Phildar Pitchoun automne-hiver 2006-2006
yarn: Novita Isoveli, colour 270, about 550g (8 years size)
needles: 4,5mm and 5mm

comments: Last tuesday was holiday here and I decided to finally finish the two old UFOs, this jacket and my sripy blue cardigan (only the buttons are missing! Yeah!).
I really like Phildar patterns for kids. There's not a sloppy sleeve fitting in sight! This one is not the nicest ones I have made, mainly because of the yarn. It is really crappy yarn and I'm already regretting using it. My son really liked this jacket and didn't even give me time to block it. Unfortunately after three days of (intensive) use the jacket is not looking new anymore: there's pilling on the sleeves!
Note to self: never ever buy this yarn again, even if it costs next to nothing!

kommentit: Viime tiistaina täällä oli pyhä (karnevaali) ja otin itseäni niskasta kiinni ja tekaisin valmiiksi kaksi vanhaa UFOa: tämän takin pojalle ja oman sinisävyisen villatakkini (siitä puuttuu enää vain napit! Jee!)
Kuten olen varmaan usein maininnutkin, Phildarin lasten mallit ovat suosikkejani (en taida itse asiassa muita lasten malleja neuloakaan!). Ei mitään kökköjä hihaistutuksia vaan huolella tehtyjä malleja. Tämä valmistunut takki ei kuitenkaan pääse top ten-listalle lähinnä siitä syystä että tuo Isoveli on aika harvinaisen kamalaa lankaa! Poikani ihastui takkiin niin että otti sen heti käyttöön (itse asiassa ennenkuin ehdin höyrytellä edes tuota vetskarireunaa siistimmäksi...) ja kolmen päivän (intensiivisen) käytön jälkeen se on jo nukkaantunut! Argh! Toivottavasti en enää sorru tähän lankaan, vaikka sitä kuinka halvalla saisi!



(I felt so light of baggage after finishing these two old UFOs! (Socks do not count as UFOs in my universe!) I imediately started another shawl from Victorian Lace Today. But I'd like something more colourful, too... have to come up with something soon)

(Tuli ihanan kevyt olo, kun nuo vanhat UFOt on tehty. Sukkiahan ei lasketa. Aloitin seuraavan shaalin Victorian Lace Today kirjasta. Tein yhden mallikerran, enää 29 jäljellä! Nyt kyllä huvittaisi joku vähän värikkäämpikin juttu... täytyy pian keksiä jotain hauskaa)

Melon Pattern Shawl

pattern: Melon Pattern Shawl from Victorian Lace Today
yarn: Pirtin Villalanka (100% wool, 360m/100g), colour 306, 200 g (two hanks).
needles: 4mm addi circs (because my ebony circs didn't arrive in time...)
measurements: about 45cm X 180cm


Wheee - what's up with the overexposed face? - I look like I had a freaking face lift, there's not a dimple or wrinkle in sight!!!

kommentit: Tämä oli todella helppo malli, sopi mainiosti tv-neuleeksi. Tein simppelimmän version kuin kirjassa jättämällä reunapitisn pois. Pirtin villalanka on ihanaa! Onneksi sitä on lisää toista shaalia varten.

comments: This was a very easy lace pattern, even suitable for tv-knitting! I didn't do the lace edging as I wanted a simpler version. I love this yarn! It's nice to know I have more of it in stash, for another shawl from the same book.

Melons!

Kyllästyin odottelemaan uusia eebenpuisia pyöröjä rikkinäisten tilalle ja aloitin Melon Pattern-shaalin (kirjasta Victorian Lace Today) vanhoilla addeillani.*)

I got tired of waiting the replacement of the broken ebony circular and started the Melon Pattern Shawl from Victorian Lace Today with my old metallic addis.*)



Kun loin silmukat niin kuvittelin että leveyttä riittäisi shaaliksi asti, mutta nuo "melonit" vetävät neuletta kovasti kasaan. Tällä hetkellä se vaikuttaa lähinnä leveähköltä huivilta. Katsotaan miten raju venyttäminen siihen sitten puree. (Muutama meloni täytyy kyllä vielä sitä ennen tekaista...)

I thought I had enough stitches for a shawl, but those melon stithes really pull the fabric tight, so it's looking more like a wide scarf really. Let's see what will become of it after blocking. (But there are quite a few melon stitches left to do before that....)

*) Olen harkinnut bambupyöröpuikkojen hankkimista pitsineuleita varten. Olisiko jollain suosituksia? Mitkä sopisivat parhaiten kyseiseen tarkoitukseen? Addin bambupyöröt? Cloverit? Otan kiitollisena kaikki vinkit vastaan!

*) I'm thinking of getting some bamboo circulars for lace - I'd apreciate your recommendations! Which are more adequate - addi bamboos? clover bamboos? Are there some pointy circular needles with a nice, flexible cord I should know about?
