pattern: Gentleman´s Fancy Sock by Nancy Bush in Knitting Vintage Socks
yarn: Trekking Pro Natura 1603 (75% New Wool 25% Bamboo), 100g
needles: addi 2mm dpns



comments: Great pattern! I really like the subtle brown hues of this yarn. So sofisticated. But I did find it a bit "dry" and cord-like to knit with. I wonder if it gets softer when washed.

kommentit: Ihana ohje! Pidän kovasti langan hienostuneista ruskeista sävyyistä. Trekking Pro Natura oli kuitenkin jotenkin kuivan ja narumaisen tuntuista neuloessa. Ehkä se sitten pesuissa pehmenee.



Marigold Socks

yarn: KoolAided Opal Uni, about 80g
needles: addi 2mm dpns



comments: I´m very happy with these socks, too. No fear of not getting enough of vitamin C when wearing these! I´m so happy to have found a great pattern to use my KoolAided orange yarn with. And, look!, no pooling! Yay!

kommentit: Nämäkin ovat kivat. Ei ainakaan iske C-vitamiinin puute kun nämä sukat laittaa jalkaan. Mukavaa, että KoolAidillä värjäämälleni oranssille langalle löytyi sopiva malli. Ja, hei!, ei lätäköitä. Jihuu!



Now back to holiday knitting - two more days left!

Nyt takaisin lomaneuleiden pariin - vielä kaksi päivää aikaa. Onneksi nyt sataa ;-).

I No Longer Suffer From Sleep Privation

Hei pitkästä aikaa. Kolme viikkoa lomaa takana, ja olo on kuin uudestisyntyneellä. Takana on helteisiä kesäpäiviä mökillä ja todella onnistunut Pietarin-matka. Ei valittamista! Mökillä tuli neulottua aika kiitettävästi, Pietarissa ei lainkaan. Ei sitä ehtinyt! Neljässä päivässä sain aikaan 15 riviä sukkaa. Vau.

Hello again! After three weeks of my vacation I feel like born again. I´ve enjoyed hot summer days in the summer cottage and a spectacular trip to St. Petersburg. In the summer cottage I knitted a lot - in St. Petersburg not so much. There was no time for that. I managed to finish 15 rows in four days. Whee.



Mutta kuten sanottua, mökillä ehti. (Ja ehtii - menen vielä sinne takaisin).

But as I said, in the summer cottage I had lots of time (and will have some more, I´m returning there for a couple more days).



Innostuin jatkamaan Victorian Lace Today -kirjasta joskus talvella aloitettua raflaavannimistä "Large Rectangle in Leaf and Trellis pattern"-huivia. Ja hups - kolmannes keskiosasta on jo tehty!

I finally felt inspired to pick up the "Large Rectangle in Leaf and Trellis pattern" (from Victorian Lace Today) which I had started last Winter. And before I knew it, I had third of the center part done!




Pistin alulle myös Road to Golden-paidan uudesta Knitscenesta. Tästä on tulossa tällainen negatiiviversio, siis värien puolesta...

I casten on Road of Golden from the last Knitscene magazine. This is going to be a negative version of the pattern, colour-wise.



Marigold-sukatkin ovat vaiheessa, malli sopii aikoinaan Koolaidatulle oranssisävyiselle langalle mainiosti.

Mutta on ihan valmista näytettävääkin! Otin keskeneräräiset Spiral Boot-sukat mukaan ja ne ovat valmiit!

The first Marigold sock is coming alog nicely. I think the pattern suits this KoolAided orange yarn quite well.

pattern: Spiral Boot Socks by Spiral by Veronik Avery in Interweave Knits Summer 2007
yarn: Regia Silk, 3 skeins in black
needles: 2.25mm Pony Rosewood dpns

comments: I love these. I had read that some people had problems with the instep part of the pattern, but I had none whatsoever. (I wonder If they noticed that the last row before starting the heel is just knitted and not the same as in the repeated pattern where you slip the last st. to next needle). I made the sock a bit longer than in the pattern, but I don´t remember exactly how much longer. I kept trying them on and placed the decrease rounds when I felt like it.

kommentit: Näistä tuli aivan ihanat.Olin lukenut että joillain oli ollut ongelmia mallikuvion jatkamisen kanssa kantapaan jäljeen, mutta minulla ei ollut mitään hämminkiä. (Viimeinen rivi ennen kantapäätä on vain neulottu, eikä siinä siirretä viimeistä silmukkaa seuraavalle puikolle kuten mallineuleessa). Tein sukista vähän pidemmät kuin ohjeessa, mutta en nyt muista tarkaan kuinka paljon pidemmät. Sovittelin ja jatkoin kunnes tuntui, että on kavennuskerroksen aika.

I'm packing my stuff and the most important thing - OBVIOUSLY - is to have enough patterns and yarn to amuse me during the vacation... at least these are going to go with me:

Pakkaaminen täydessä käynnissä. Tärkeintä on luonnollisesti varata mukaan tarpeeksi neuleohjeita ja lankaa viihdyttämään minua koko PITKÄN loman ajan... ainakin nämä ohjeet lankoineen pääsevät mukaan:

Road to Golden by Lisa Shroyer (in totally different colours - black, blues and light browns - can't show them yet as the yarn is already packed.... )

Retro Rib Socks by Evelyn A. Clark (dark brown sock yarn)
Marigold Socks by Pamela Wynne (KoolAided orange Opal)
Gentleman's Fancy Sock by Nancy Bush (Trekking Pro Natura)

Kimono Shawl or North Sea Shawl by Cheryl Oberle (might have to get some yarn from Wetterhoff for one of these...)

I also have the Spiral Boot Socks (from Summer 2007 IK) to finish, and I'm taking all the Phildar Hoodie pieces (already blocked, mind you!) to finally sew them together. It may come handy in the nordic Summer weather!

Otan mukaan myös pari keskeneräistä tyotä, kuten Spiral Boot Sock-sukat (ohje kesän Interweave Knitsissä), jotka ovat aivan vaiheessa, sekä Phildar hupparin jo venytetyt osat. Jospa vaikka tulisi villapaidalle tarve Suomen kesässä ja innostuisin kokoamaan sen.

4 days and 6 hours

Lomaan enää neljä päivää ja risat. Ihanaa. Kohta pääsee saunaan! (En ole VUOTEEN ollut saunassa) ja uimaan. Ja mökille. Olenkin todella loman tarpeessa. Patterit on ihan loppu!

Only four more days and it's summer holiday time! I'm so happy! I get to go to sauna! And to summer cottage. Mmmmmm. I'm really in need of a vacation...



Neuleitakin olisi valmistunut, mutta en ikinä ehdi niitä kuvaamaan päiväsaikaan. Ariann on pingotusta vailla ja punaiset sukat myos aivan viime riveillä. Lupaan näyttää ne ennenkuin suuntaan lomille.

Tämä on Wollmeisen normaalia villalankaa, joka poistuu valikoimista. Ostin hädissäni pari vyyhtiä varastoon. Näistä on suunnitteilla Chevron Scarf-huiveja ensi talveksi. (Lanka ei ole yhtä jumalaisen pehmeää kuin kuuluisa sukkalankansa, mutta ihanaa kuitenkin.)

This is 6-ply yarn by Wollmeise. She will not be selling this yarn any more, so I panicked and bought a couple of hanks. I'm thinking of some Chevron Scarves for next Winter. (This yarn is not as soft as the famous sock yarn, but it's lovely nevertheless).

Violet Shawlette

yarn: Wollmeise Sockenwolle (100% wool) in Veilchen (Violet) 125g
needles: Addi lace circs 3,75mm

comments: My new Addi Lace needles and the Wollmeise sock yarn was a match made in heaven. Knitting this shawl was pure joy. The finished shawlette - hmmm, I don't know. I love the colour, but I have doubts with those little thingies in the ends. Anyway, this will be a gift for my mother, so she'll have to find out how to wear it!

kommentit: uudet pitsi-Addini ja Wollmeisen sukkalanka olivat kuin luodut toisilleen. Tämän työn neulominen oli todella nautinnollista. Valmis huivi on kauniin värinen, mutta nuo päiden härpäkkeet vähän oudoksuttavat. No, onneksi tämä menee lahjaksi äidille, eli minun ei tarvitse pähkäillä että miten niitä asettelisi!



Punaiset Project Spectrum-sukat ovat jo hyvässä vauhdissa. Itse asiassa ensimmäinen ehti jo valmistuakin. Lanka on Lorna's Lacen sukkalanka ja aivan ihana neulottavaa. (En ole aiemmin kokeillut). Harmi vaan, että tässä punaisessa sävyssä väri vaihtelee todella vähän. Tuskin maltan odottaa, että pääsen iskemään kynteni muihin väreihin! (Siis kaupassa - kotoa niitä ei valitettavasti löydy).

I've started (and already finished the first one) my red Project Spectrum socks. This is the first time I'm knitting with Lorna's Laces sock yarn and I have to say that it really is a pleasure. Too bad there's very little tone variation in this hue, I can't wait to try out some of the other semi solid colours!
