All play and no work!

First of all I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year. If you are reading this you survived December, like I did. Don't get me wrong - I love all the Christmas preparations and gift planning / making / wrapping - but this year the planets just weren't aligned and my December went a bit wrong... now I'm taking a few days off work and I feel that I'm recovering my normal energy levels in no time. So there's quite a lot of knitting and sewing going on, and I do plan to finally update the blogger template. Just be patient!

Ihan aluksi haluan toivottaa kaikille oikein mainiota Uutta Vuotta! Selvisitte siis joulukuusta hengissa, kuten minä. Olen paatunut joulufanaatikko, ja rakastan varsinkin jouluvalmisteluja ja lahjojen suunnittelua / tekemistä / pakkaamista. Mutta tänä jouluna planeetat eivät aivan olleet linjoillaan ja koko joulukuu oli kaikenkaikkiaan aivan kamala. Olen nyt pari päivää lomalla töistä, ja aivan tunnen kuinka patterit latautuvat. Näinä päivinä onkin luvassa tavallista enemmän neulomista ja ompelua ja ajattelin jopa viimeinkin saada blogin sivupohjan muutettua uusimpaan versioon. Kyllä tämä tästä!



In the last few days I have mainly been knitting my Gathered Pullover. I just have to finish the last sleeve and sew the pieces together. It's looking rather promising, I tried it on and the fit is quite nice.

Viime aikoina olen neulonut lähinnä Gathered Pulloveria. Enää ei puutu kuin toisesta hihasta parikymmentä senttiä niin kaikki osat ovat valmiina. Sovittelin sitä jo ja ainakin vartalo-osan istuvuus näytti aika lupaavalta.

yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Watercolor, 1 skein
needles: 2,25mm clover takumi dpns (love these!)

comments: The first FO of 2008! This is the same yarn that Terhi struggled with. As a matter of fact her socks gave me the idea of using the yarn in this stitch pattern. Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock is such a lovely yarn. Too bad that this colourway looks like my cat had puked a tropical parrot. (Or maybe the watercolour reference is about when you just can't stopping mixing the colours and in the end just get a muddy mess). It really is quite awful! But my daughter isn't that picky - after all, it has PINK in it.

kommentit: Tässä vuoden ensimmäinen tuotos. Tämä on samaista lankaa, jonka kanssa Terhi taisteli. Terhin sukista sainkin idean näihin säärystimiin. Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock on aivan ihanaa lankaa, mutta tämä väri on tosiaan neulottuna ihan kamala. Ihan kuin kissa olis syönyt papukaijan ja oksentanut sen sohvalle! (Tai ehkä vesiväri-inspiraatio onkin tullut siitä kun värejä joskus tulee sotkettua vähän liikaa ja lopulta tuloksena on kuranväristä sotkua). Mutta Inês tykkää - onhan niissä VAALEANPUNAISTA.
