The socks that took forever to finish

Vilai

pattern: Vilai from Sock Innovation by Cookie A.
yarn: Cascade Yarns Heritage in Steel 5602, a bit less than a skein
needles: 2,25 dpns

I started knitting these almost a year ago! I loved the yarn, and the pattern sure wasn't boring, but I clearly have some resistance to knitting socks that require following the chart all the time. Maybe if I were a superior human I might learn the pattern by heart, but for me it was totally impossible.

The finished socks are nice, and as I said, the yarn is really lovely. But they are just not ...me. Too many holes and too much going on in the pattern. I think I'll give them away as gift for a friend.

Spot Check Socks

pattern: Spot Check Sock by Beth Parrott from Knitting Socks With Handpainted Yarn
yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Watercolor and Pewter
needles: 2,75mm

I thought this pattern was the final solution fot the
miserable Watercolor yarn, but it proved that it is not made for beauty. The skein looked lovely though! (Just a thought - maybe the colours were inspired of the mud-coloured water where you clean your brushes when you paint with watercolours, and not the actual watercolour hues!) The colours formed strange pools all over the sock. But if you are able to distract yourself from that, the socks feel lovely, thick and squishy. A great pattern if you want warmer socks using fingering weight yarn!

(Hehe, ehkä langan on inspiroinut kuranvärinen siveltimenpesuvesi, eikä suinkaan vesivärimaalauksen sävyt!).
