Hmmm... Still Planning Holiday Knitting...

wild poppies

I'm packing my stuff and the most important thing - OBVIOUSLY - is to have enough patterns and yarn to amuse me during the vacation... at least these are going to go with me:

Pakkaaminen täydessä käynnissä. Tärkeintä on luonnollisesti varata mukaan tarpeeksi neuleohjeita ja lankaa viihdyttämään minua koko PITKÄN loman ajan... ainakin nämä ohjeet lankoineen pääsevät mukaan:

Road to Golden by Lisa Shroyer (in totally different colours - black, blues and light browns - can't show them yet as the yarn is already packed.... )

Retro Rib Socks by Evelyn A. Clark (dark brown sock yarn)
Marigold Socks by Pamela Wynne (KoolAided orange Opal)
Gentleman's Fancy Sock by Nancy Bush (Trekking Pro Natura)

Kimono Shawl or North Sea Shawl by Cheryl Oberle (might have to get some yarn from Wetterhoff for one of these...)

I also have the Spiral Boot Socks (from Summer 2007 IK) to finish, and I'm taking all the Phildar Hoodie pieces (already blocked, mind you!) to finally sew them together. It may come handy in the nordic Summer weather!

I'll try to blog every once in a while!
Take care! See you soon!

All this organized and stash busting knitting planning is totally Ravelry induced. I love it!

4 days and 6 hours

Lomaan enää neljä päivää ja risat. Ihanaa. Kohta pääsee saunaan! (En ole VUOTEEN ollut saunassa) ja uimaan. Ja mökille. Olenkin todella loman tarpeessa. Patterit on ihan loppu!

Only four more days and it's summer holiday time! I'm so happy! I get to go to sauna! And to summer cottage. Mmmmmm. I'm really in need of a vacation...

Neuleitakin olisi valmistunut, mutta en ikinä ehdi niitä kuvaamaan päiväsaikaan. Ariann on pingotusta vailla ja punaiset sukat myos aivan viime riveillä. Lupaan näyttää ne ennenkuin suuntaan lomille.

I have some almost finished knits, but haven't been able to take any daylight photos. But I promise to show you some FOs before leaving....

Näistä on suunnitteilla Chevron Scarf-huiveja ensi talveksi.

This is 6-ply yarn by Wollmeise. She will not be selling this yarn any more, so I panicked and bought a couple of hanks. I'm thinking of some Chevron Scarves for next Winter. (This yarn is not as soft as the famous sock yarn, but it's lovely nevertheless).

Violet Shawlette

violet shawlette

pattern: Clementine Shawlette by Michele Rose Orne in Interweave Knits Spring 2007
yarn: Wollmeise Sockenwolle (100% wool) in Veilchen (Violet) 125g
needles: Addi lace circs 3,75mm

comments: My new Addi Lace needles and the Wollmeise sock yarn was a match made in heaven. Knitting this shawl was pure joy. The finished shawlette - hmmm, I don't know. I love the colour, but I have doubts with those little thingies in the ends. Anyway, this will be a gift for my mother, so she'll have to find out how to wear it!

I've started (and already finished the first one) my red Project Spectrum socks. This is the first time I'm knitting with Lorna's Laces sock yarn and I have to say that it really is a pleasure. Too bad there's very little tone variation in this hue, I can't wait to try out some of the other semi solid colours!

Thunder! Lightning!

rolling thunder front

pattern: Rolling Thunder
yarn: Bergère de France Cablenyl (75%wool, 25% polyamid), beads
needles: 2mm

rolling thunder leg

comments: These turned out pretty nice! I love the combination of the plain garter rib pattern and the fancy beaded cuff. The only problem I had was due to my own stupidity: somehow I always manage to pick up the wrong loops of the crochet cast on... and then it's a pain to get rid of the waste yarn.

kommentit: Näistä tuli kivat! Käytännöllisen perussukan ja hienohelman yhdistelmä. Ainoa vastaantullut ongelma näitä tehdessä johtui aivan omasta tyhmyydestä: virkkausaloituksessa (?) jotenkin aina onnistun poimimaan aloitussilmukat väärin, ja sitten hukkalangan pois purkaminen on todella rasittavaa.

Warming Up!

dishcloth closeup

Värikäs lanka on Anchorin Magiclinea, merseroitua moniväristä puuvillaa. En todellakaan tiedä mihin tarkoitukseen olen aikoinaan ostanut yksittäisen kerän. En myöskään tiedä onko merseroitu puuvilla sopivinta tähän käyttoön, mutta mitä pienistä.

I knitted a pair of cotton dish clothes following the pattern from Mason Dixon book. Nice and easy, and using up those solitary skeins or left overs makes you feel oh so efficient. The colourful yarn is Anchor Magicline, a mercerised cotton. I haven't got the faintest idea what purpose I have originally bought this yarn for, or if it's the most suitable for this use, but who cares.

dishcloths

Shawlette on viittä vaille valmis.

Shawlette is almost ready. I have a few more rows to go and then I can join the pieces. My idea is to knit both pieces till the third row of the pattern repeat and then graft them together on the wrong side. I have really enjoyed this project. The yarn (Wollmeise sock yarn) and the needles (Addi Lace circs) are absolutely fantastic. Oh, and the pattern is nice, too.

Uusia FO-kuvia toivottavasti luvassa huomenna...

I hope to have some new FO photos tomorrow...

Stash Inventory

Ravelryyn piti saada langat listattua ja päätin tehdä inventaarion.

I decided to list my stash for Ravelry.

cotton leftovers

"These are a lot fewer than I remembered", I thought as I pulled out the bag with my cotton yarn leftovers. But Whoa! there's almost half a kilo hidden there. That would make quite a few dishclothes, I'd say.

escocesa black

Ja miten näistäkin pienistä mustan langan nakaleista tulee yhteensä kolmesataa grammaa? Luonnonvärisenäkin samaa lankaa on neljänneskilo...

But how can these tiny small balls of black wool sum up to 300 grams? And there's almost 250 of the natural coloured one, too...

escocesa natural

Pah! Sen takia varmaan sanotaan, ettei sukkalankaa lasketa. Sitähän minulla on varastosta suurin osa, eikä paina paljon mitään. Saa tässä todella paljon shoppailla ennenkuin pääsee SABLE-kategoriaan! Mmm, mainio uutinen.

After all the listing, weighting and photographing I came to the conclusion that my stash is quite moderate - even shamefully small. A pathetic 6-7 kg of yarn! That's why they say that sock yarn does not count as stash. It doesn't weight almost anything. I really have a lot of shopping to do before I each the SABLE category! Excellent!
